How about an option for "LOL @ whoever got their panties bunched up over this".

In the big picture, it's a non-event.  I'm sure real-life GM's bend the truth about their motivations for moving or not moving players, or about other offers on the table for said players, in order to get better deals all the time.  It's simple gamesmanship, certainly not an egregious breach of integrity.

Man, we all play games. It's what makes the sim so much fun. When trade chatting with an owner we say 'you have to do better. I like this other teams offer more'

Heck, I'll rack up the offer on a FA or an IFA then, if I am holding the top bid for 2 cycles, withdraw my offer.

It's all a game, and to the one you just pulled I say 'well played'

That's kind of what I think.   Everyone says "I've got a better offer" when they have no offers.   I just said "I'm a dumbass and I'm gonna be less of a dumbass by getting something at 3 PM."   No one had to make offers.    In fact, one of the players rec'd no offers and simply got claimed.

Good to see "too long, didn't read" is getting some play.

I'd vote for dirty and brilliant.

I would vote for Brilliant and dirty...they aren't mutually exclusive in this case.

I don't think it was dirty at all.   EVERYONE lies about their players when they're trying to trade them.  It might be that you pretend to value them more than you do or that someone else covets them but, for the most part, we're just trying to squeeze an extra drop from that rock.  I'm probably the person that lies the least about how much I value a guy because, if I'm trying to trade him, he's obviously not someone I want/need on my 25.

I simply upped the ante a little by putting them on the waiver wire.   Anyone who wanted them, and weren't first on the WW, needed to move quickly.   And I added a little pressure by saying I'd accept a deal at 3 PM.

I don't think it's brilliant, but it's closer to that than dirty.

So pretty much you asked a question when you are only willing to accept one answer? Well, two if you count "too long."

I could be persuaded that it's not dirty, but my first reaction was that it is because it is a flat-out lie, rather than exaggerating value/role. I view it as the difference between saying "Other teams want this guy" vs. "I have 2 offers in hand", when no offers have been made. Other teams could well want the guy so the former is misleading but not necessarily untrue. The latter is untrue.

But even if it is dirty, it's probably not the dirtiest thing that happened in any given world on any given day. And certainly not worth having a fit about.

Shane on those guys for taking the bait. Sounds to me like the move smacked of "what's he really up to here?"

I only believe half of what I read in forum or TC, and I always try to figure out what angle the poster has. Some guys in my league I don't trust at all.
