Just for the fun of it, I made a list of the top 20 active coaches in DII Phelan, with a scoring system (only NT counts). I took the 10 last seasons into consideration.

It's a work in progress. I will add points every NT season.

There is only one game left in this NT so I will adjust if needed once the result is in tomorrow.

PHELAN DII is the most fun division in all worlds!!! It has to be.

Might have to steal this idea and use it for my seasonal threads. How did you do the scoring?

Simple : last 10 seasons, 1 pt First round, 2pts second round, 4 pts sweet sixteen, 6 pts elite eight, 8 pts final four, 12 pts championship game, 15 pts NT champion. NT only.

I used to keep a list a few years ago.  But it was based on a few more things than strict NT success.  Although a Final Four probably meant you would top most other metrics used.   A max season was 50 points.

Postseason success:  Max 20 points
  NT:  2 points for making NT, 3 points for each win >   NT Championship = 20 points
  PIT: 1 point for each win . PIT Champ = 5 points
Prestige:  Max 12 points
Season ending Prestige:   1-12 points based on the letter grade.  A+ = 12, A = 11......D- = 1
RPI:  Max 8 points
Final RPI:   (81-RPI)/10     RPI of 1 results in  81-1 = 80 / 10 = 8.0 overall points.  RPI of 40 = 81-40 = 41 / 10 = 4.1 points
SOS:  Max 3 points
Final SOS:   Top 10 = 3 points, 11-20 = 2 points, 21-30 = 1 point
Top 25 Ranking:  Max 3 points
Final Ranking:   Top 5 = 3 points, 6-15 = 2 points, 16-25 = 1 point
NT Seed:  Max 4 points
#1 seed = 4 points, # 2 = 3, # 3 = 2, # 4 = 1

can you do Knight D 2 as well?

Oldwarrior : I decided not to use PIT because to me, it's not really Worth anything. If you get to NT or to PIT and your team is really borderline, you'd get one point in my system. But I like the SOS, RPI thing. It's just too time consuming. I made it to be simple and to let new coaches in PHELAN DII have a shot at getting into the top 20 pretty quickly by going deep into the tourney.

My goal is to get more owners into DII Phelan and to make sure the competition is on all the time.

I hope we get 20 more owners next season in DII Phelan, whether they move up, it's job time friday, or they join us later. I want to fill out GLIAC with owners too. I are currently 10, hoping to get to 12. CAL CAA is filled out.

my ratings were generally created to rank all teams.

I could see if you're just trying to isolate the elite teams or elite coaches a negative number could be used for missing the NT.  Or just make qualifying for the NT a higher point value to begin with.
I also could see subtracting points for non A+ prestige.

In a sense, start at the top grade possible and subtract points based on failing to win the NT, failing to make the Elite 8, failing to make the NT, failing to maintain a A+ prestige...
