I have a player drafted this year that is raking it in RL, looking at his ratings, his current stuff would be at least good enough for a backup, but I don't want to kill the development

What is the earliest you would put this player in the ML? www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx

If you're going to play him and not let him sit the bench, now, if he's one of your better players.

If he is better than most of your ML players, you have a poor ML team.  I'd move him up to High A or AA, whichever has the better hitting coach.  See how he does there before going higher.  Most important thing is to give him regular playing time.

Also, if his range and glove ratings are that low at age 22, he is never going to be good enough to play 2B.  I'd move him to LF.

Pay little to no attention to stats. A-12 games is not enough to even call a respectable small sample size. B-Minor-league stats are useless. C-Rookie-level stats are worse than useless. Half the owners in your world probably stash the first 30 non-prospects they come across on the Rookie roster and never glance at them again. He's hitting .429 against the equivalent of community college freshmen who showed up at the park one day and happened to have a glove and cleats in the car. Many owners don't put anyone with any hope of ever making it to AAA in Rookie League, let alone actual ML prospects. In this case his ratings tell you he can be a solid ML player, but the good stats tell you nothing.
