I'm curious how people allocate their practice points. I've seen two guides of really experienced coaches and they both had a little different takes on it. I'm afraid I'm putting too many minutes into maintaining maxed out skills which slows the development of skills with potential. What rules do you guys use?

0 for skills that are useless like a red rebounding of 8 in a guard. or a 5 per for a PF

3 to maintain a lp/per

7/8 minimum for everything else to be maintained.

If i have a recruit all red then I usually dump a good amount into the last red category and once I get the maxed out I generally switch it to just maintain and put the rest into IQ

once you get the max message there is maybe a point left, maybe 2 of growth, but I zero it out at that point (except FT which keeps 7) and rarely lose anything/more than a point.

It is possible for there to be more than 2 points left at the time of a max message, but I still zero it out.  Once I max out all categories, I come back and give minutes where there is potential for some further improvement.

Are you referring to a message from your A.D. or assistant? Or, do you mean when the color changes to red?

99% sure he's referring to the message from the AD.

If a player turns red in an area, I set it to zero, and put them in skills that are still black or blue. If I have a player with lots of potential in lots of areas, I might even go with zero in a skill that is low, that is not important. For example if a PG can improve in lots of areas, and is blue in BH and Passing, but is black with 12 in rebounding, I'll probably make rebounding zero until late in his career after I have maxed out other areas.
