A little confused on why my team ran a +1 Topic

So for my E8 game in Naismith I had gameplanned so that they would run a +3 and then the could change(I normally never change and what happened is why I normally never changed) but I had set the team to change defense if losing, and in the if losing gameplan I set to if losing by 8 or more with 3 minutes left run a +5.

Now the thing is my team switched to a +1 after halftime(and then switched to a +5 at the 3 minute mark)

I am not complaining about losing as regardless I would've lost.

I am more concerned about why my team ran a +1 when I never specified to run a +1.

Does setting changes to if losing allow the sim to change my defensive position without my input since I only set it to change if losing by 8 or more with 3 minutes remaining.

Ideally my team would've ran a +3 the whole game until the 3 minute mark and switched to a +5 when I was behind by 8+

If that is how the system works then it clearly needs to be changed because at no point did I ask for my team to run a +1 at any point in the game.

If you set your overall team game plan to be able to change defensive positioning whether it's "if losing" or anything other then "never",  which it sounds like you did.  Then if your team is in that designated situation, the sim will automatically adjust up to + or - 2 defensive setting, I believe.

I'm also pretty sure the basis of the change is how many 3's your opponent took in the first half.

This makes sense logically why the game would do this, and doesn't need to be changed.  if you don't want your team to change at halftime, set it to never, and the other end of game adjustment should still work.  But if a coach plays a team that shoots 30 3's a game, and the opponent knows that coach will play a + defense and adjusts by telling his players not to shoot 3's, you'd want your team to adjust to that at half time.

That's why the sim does it.  If it didn't, there would be a lot of complaining from coaches that got out game-planned and couldn't do anything about it.  Half time adjustments are pretty realistic.

Your endgame settings are not relevant until you get to however many minutes from the end of the game you have specified.  The program does not look at that.

When you said adjust if losing, it told the program to look at the inside/outside shooting of your opponent and adjust - but only if you were losing.  This is separate from the end game adjustment.  At the half, it looked and decided that the opponent was not shooting outside enough to justify +3 under its (rough) rules of thumb.  I cant say that I fully understand how it makes that adjustment.

Two separate decisions - adjust at the half vs endgame adjustments.

so my endgame settings can still be used if i set change to never?

That setting is pretty clearly labeled halftime adjustment which is all it has an impact on.

Will damn never noticed that's what it actually was.  I thought it just controlled when you implemented winning/losing late.  Sucks that you can't control the halftime adjustment?

your choice on the halftime plus/minus adjustment is whether to turn it on or off - but you cant custom design it

there is a sort of game play question - how many levels of adjustment do you allow?  one option would be to have the user be able to adjust settings at halftime - as in GD - I think still that way?  that would change up a bunch....

I guess I should clarify how to get this understood completely since I apparently don't.

Is there a way to turn off any adjustments?  Say I want to run normal tempo +2 all game long with no changes?

Or I only want to make changes if I'm losing, so switch to uptempo 0 if losing, but keep my offense the same if I'm winning, will I have to switch settings for all wiining/late to matchup with my normal settings every time I gameplan?

...maybe this is why i keep losing....

If you work through the options on the game plan page - and take them literally, I think it will become more clear.

you can select "never" make halftime adjustments, for example.  There are several other choices on the trigger for adjustments.

Now, the halftime adjustment is plus and minus.  You also have some options on when to adjust tempo.  Check out the options

The end game options apply only in limited time periods - again, see the choices.

damn so to keep say -1 the entire game i just have to make sure i set all my def settings to -1?

i feel so stupid right now, i've been playing for over a year and doing this all wrong...

if you dont want the game to adjust your plus minus at halftime you need to pick never
