Franchise Prog W/ Farm System - FULL Topic

Our owner for the Chicago Cubs franchise has not entered his team yet and has not opened site mails lately.  I'm not quite ready to give away his team yet, but wont wait much longer.  You can post here and sitemail dannyjoe if you are interested in taking this franchise.

This is a new 20-team progressive league, beginning with 1977.  The other 19 teams have been entered.  You get the 1977 roster, plus the team's eventual rookies (as defined by the first team they played for in their first WIS-eligible season). So the Cubs eventually get Lee Smith in 1981, Ryne Sandberg in 82, Joe Carter in 83, Greg Maddux and Rafael Palmeiro in 86, Grace in 88. They'll probably lose a lot at first (like real-life) and then be set up well with those rookies in the future.

The Cubs already drafted P Bob Knepper, C Thurman Munson, OF Lou Piniella, C Gary Alexander in our 1977 contraction draft.  For 1977 only, they also get P Tom Gorman from the 1955 Kansas City A's. Every team gets a semi-random pitcher-season like that, of similar quality, for one season at a time.

The league rules are in this thread, or you can sitemail me with questions:

You can use all those players in 1977, stocking your AAA with whoever you don't want for your 25-man roster.   (No auto-generated AAA can be used.)  But the limit is 25 keepers (including your franchise's own 1978 rookies) going into the 1978 draft.  The 1978 (and beyond) draft pool will be the rookies from the unclaimed franchises - SF Giants, SD Padres, CLE Indians, MIL Brewers, TOR Blue Jays, and NY Yankees - plus any waived players.
11/16/2015 8:54 PM
so i would get to keep munson etc going forward or is it just 77?
11/17/2015 3:54 PM
and AAA going forward would just be your own rookies? and if you keep 25 how many can you draft in supplemental draft?
11/17/2015 4:00 PM
Any of those 1977 players, including Munson, Knepper, etc., can be kept going forward in the progressive, with a limit of 25 keepers (including the franchise's own new rookies, but in the Cubs 1978 case, I do not see any rookies).  Then you can draft an unlimited number of players from the waiver / rookie pool, and distribute them however you like between AAA and major league roster.
11/17/2015 11:10 PM
The Cubs original owner has entered his team, but I will sitemail you if there is an opening going into the next season.
