Ah here we go again.  Last season yours truly took home the title for the first time, and I look poised to duplicate that success this season as well. :P

Pre-season final four(no order)

Cal Tech piman314
88 piman314 29-3 8-2 16-0 5-1 15-1 11 17 44 A+ Conf Champion
CT Champion
NT (Sweet 16)

Piman might be the favorite to win the title this season, disregard the exhibition results, piman always run his younger guys earlier in the season, and they were still pretty close.  Expect an undefeated regular season from this team, maybe Colorado can pull the upset or an early sim can with all the young guys playing, but Cal Tech is the favorite in every game and it's not close.

La Grange the0nlyIS
88 the0nlyis 31-4 7-1 16-2 8-1 13-3 1 2 2 A+ Conf Champion
NT At-large Bid
National Champion

La Grange is looking poised to repeat(or at least go far).  The biggest thing to watch is the per development of Peter Smith, probably the biggest factor on how far La Grange can go, he grew 22 points last season, which replicated would put him at 80 giving a somewhat respectable shooter.  Otherwise the guards skills of Brumbaugh will make this offense flow.  A tougher non-conf than usual and a early meeting with Greensboro makes another 23-0 start a bit out of the realm of possibility.  Howard Payne's zone could be a upset.

Greensboro ab90
88 ab90 22-8 6-2 14-4 2-2 12-4 12 5 4 A+ NT At-large Bid
NT (Sweet 16)

Greensboro's amazing post season success should be continued this season, close to rivaling Cal Tech as the most athletic team in the nation.  Look to the big matchup with Augustana to see if ab's team is legit.  Parker and Wilkins will be hard to stop both with 60+ ath and 80+ spd.  Black will cause problems for opposing teams trying to stop him.  22 wins should be expected from this team in the regular season.

Suny Geneseo terps17321
88 terps17321 20-10 4-5 14-3 2-2 8-8   57 60 B NT At-large Bid
NT (1st Round)

Originally I thought it would be a down year for the SUNYAC, but I must've missed terps's team, pretty stacked defensively, the zone can be an absolute monster with great defensive ratings.  The starting guards should be able to put up enough points along with Mason while the defense will not be easy to score against.  Colorado and Shennandoah well provide early season matchups to show their ability as well as the conference slate against a tough group of coaches.  20 wins should be achieved from this SUNYAC team.

My dark horse picks are 2 other USAS teams in Shenandoah and Oglethorpe.  presentense needs his team to get to B+ IQ to be considered for a deep run.  Shenandoah just needs to wait and let their young big man develop.

If I were to pick a NC game it would be a Cal Tech SUNY Geneseo. Cal Tech knocks off Greensboro, and La Grange doesn't develop enough per to score against Geneseo.  Cal Tech provides the offensive firepower to bring home the title.

Hope you enjoyed!  Have a good season!

Love that you do this every year the0nlyis, but really really wish you'd stop picking me to do so well.  Hard to live up the expectations :)

MID-SEASON REPORT

Pick review:

Cal Tech still looks like a solid pick, I believe they are still the favorite.  Should win out unless they trip up against Colorado running their developmental lineup.  Sitting lower than they would like on the projection report they should move up as teams begin conference play and start to drop games.  Expected 1 Seed  NC Appearance

La Grange does not seem to have it in them this season.  No perimeter shooting has hurt this team and a weakness in the stamina department has them playing too tired.  A S16 run looks plausible, but anything more requires some serious gains from practice.  Expected 4-6 seed, S16 appearance.

Greensboro looks really good on paper, and right now they look well too, it looks like the developmental lineup will be until the CT which could cause some serious problems in the toughest conference.  Running their best lineup I think they are at worst the 4th or 5th best team taking in talent and coaching at best they are number 2.  I'm going to stick with what I say and trust ab making a deep run from a 3 seed and getting to the NC game.

Suny Geneseo is easily looking like a great pick, two big wins against Colorado and Shennandoah look really good, and conference play against some other top SUNYAC teams will give more situations to  show off their ability.  Expected 1 seed Final Four.

Teams that weren't included but have Final Four potential:

Shennandoah, currently looking at a 1 seed and I think they have the path in front of them to keep it that way and the top rpi.  They have the pieces, scoop just needs to figure out the right combination and string together the wins.  Expected 1 seed with an Elite 8 appearance

US Coast Guard, no mfnmyers didn't join US Coast Guard, but Clansing has taken a page out of the Dickinson playbook and has gone ath/def fb/press coaching style and boy is it looking good.  Try scoring or even defending Holt or Davis, it's really hard.  Put 91 on a zone team(notoriously known for fastbreak killing ability).  I think this team is too athletic to stop.  Expected 2 seed and Final Four appearance.

Oglethorpe.  presentense has a great looking team, the switch to the motion offense is nearly complete and should be at B+/A- come tourney time which with the talent on the roster is perfectly fine.  The defense is outstanding shutting down opponents all season, the duel between the offensive oriented Shennandoah and the defensive minded Oglethorpe will be a blast to read about especially with 2 games we get between them.  An expected 1-3 seed will propel this team to the Elite 8 with the capability to easily go farther.

Centre will be the last team included and armyof1 will be in the thick of things again.  Sitting at 10-1 Centre hasn't lost 3 conference games since season 73 when they went 13-3.  A 23-3 record with a high rpi sos will give this team a top 3 seed I think they end their season in the Elite 8, but don't count out Centre's tough defense from taking them farther.

ENJOY!

I just hope for final thirty two potential.

Heh.

cant believe we saw Shenandoah and Cal Tech both knocked out in the first round, Shen had F4 potential and I still thought Cal Tech was a top 3 NC favorite.

I think I see a NC game between Stevens Point and Greensboro.  rico as always has an underseeded monster and Greensboro is super tough, not sure who I'd pick between them!
