The league is a 12 team league and is about to enter its 3rd season. We progress 2 seasons at a time and began with the 1885-86 seasons. Any player that has a WIS season in either or both of those seasons is eligible. Players with a season in both can only be used once but the owner gets to choose which season to use. We are midway through the 1887-88 season and will be looking to draft rookies and free agents from 1889 and 1890.

A few names coming up in the next draft: Jessie Burkett, Cy Young, Amos Rusie, Kid Nichols.......one of the available teams will definitely get a shot at one of these guys and could possibly get the #1 overall pick. Here is a look at the 2 available teams.

Team #1 - Baltimore Orioles (plays in Oriole Park IV).

They are currently 39-31 and 6 games out of first in the 6 team NL. They finished 88-74 in the first season, missing the playoffs by 4 games. A few of the studs on this team are Denny Lyons (usable thru 1896), Dan Brouthers (1896), Ed Delahanty (1903), and Jack Clements (1898). Pitching-wise, the team will need some help, particularly after next season. The good news, there are a lot of players with 300-500 IP seasons in the draft.

Team #2 - Detoit Yepites (plays in Bennett Park)

They are currently in the cellar of the AL at 20-50. The team actually won the World Series in year 1, but have taken a big slide backwards this year. Some of the notable players are John Clarkson (usable thru 1894), Ben Sanders (1892), Sam Thompson (1896), and Wilbert Robinson (1902). Unfortunately, the owner who ran this team previously traded away the first round pick in the upcoming draft so this will be a longer term rebuild project.

I will post complete rosters asap. Otherwise, please post on this thread if you have any questions or would like to claim either team. Thanks!

These are the actual 1887-88 rosters.....some of these players will be retired and not available to the new owner going forward.  When I get a chance, I will research the rosters in more depth and will strike off those without any future value.
