I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but wanted some opinions anyway. I have $18M in college scouting and $10M in high school scouting. I've currently got the #1 overall pick.

Pitcher A is a high school pitcher projected at 94 overall. Pitcher B is a college pitcher projected at 86 overall.

Both are pretty much even in durability, stamina, control and lefty split. Player A has a much higher righty split and groundball ratio, and a better assortment of pitches. Player B has higher velocity and a much higher first pitch (both have 5 pitches projected over 45).

Overall, Player A is more appealing for his near-perfect righty split and higher groundball rating. But I'm thinking with my scouting, Player B is the far better/safer bet for me at #1.

Thoughts?

I'd go with the better scouting.  B.

I had the same exact quandary and chose the higher rating/lower scouting and got burned. I'm going with the all or nothing approach MikeT goes with with all may teams in the future. It makes choices like this a lot easier.

I'm going with that approach too - just haven't had time to get my HS scouting down yet.

Three worlds, Max college and min HS scouting in each of them, every draft I've seen at least one HS player projected to look near perfect. But you have to trust the scouting.

I decided to have some fun in our draft in Riley. Had 14 million in HS and 0 in college. 5th round I picked a defensive bench SS that projected to 90's in all fielding categories. When I signed him, I'll be lucky if he can play a terrible 3B. Stick with the better scouting.

I'm interested to see an update on this, if the draft already happened.

Which player did you go with? If you have $ in adv scouting (how much?), how does your adv scouting see the 2 players?

Sorry, been a crazy week. $18M in College and $10M in HS.

HS Player:

Pre-Draft Projections - 86 ST, 91 CTR, 91/98 splits, 49 VEL, 77 GB, 74/80/69/66/65 pitches, 94 OVR

Current Ratings -          50 ST, 53 CTR, 47/48 splits, 27 VEL, 68 GB, 70/52/45/43/38 pitches, 48 OVR

College Player:

Pre-Draft Projections - 85 ST, 90 CTR, 90/79 splits, 95 VEL, 27 GB, 90/79/50/56/44 pitches, 86 OVR

Current Ratings -          66 ST, 65 CTR, 72/62 splits, 88 VEL, 23 GB, 71/69/43/36/29 pitches, 64 OVR

I clearly made the right choice. College P should come close to his pre-draft projections. HS P may be a serviceable back of the rotation starter, but won't come near his projections

Yeah the college kid you drafted would be better than the 4's & 5's on some BL teams right now. Good choice.
