Oh no gil, the conference didn't change, but you could change your OOC schedule. There was the opportunity to move up/get kicked out of your conference at the end of the season based on performance though. It's NCAA Basketball '10. just you vs sims, so definitely not the same as this, but I think the point of scheduling could carry over.
Conference play pretty much has to be generated by the SIM always. To an extent, in RL this is based on conference you're in, here it's just the math of the even conferences of 12 teams each. OOC is the flexible part. Obviously here we get 10 games that we can schedule, or the SIM will choose after conf play, but it's just those 10 games.
Two different things going on here, scheduling and conferences. I don't think WIS *can* change conferences just because of the even number of teams setup they have. As far as scheduling, how many games a team plays is fixed for us, but not always with other engines. For example that game had the early season showcase events (Maui Classic, etc) that some people try to replicate here.
It's mildly annoying to me that it's always 26 games here, then CT then NT/PIT, but I'm used to it by now. I don't think there's any value at all to shift things so more games are played. It would be nice to adjust conferences maybe, but it's just an even number thing here and I don't think it can ever change unless even more guts of the sim engine get re-worked. I'm fine with the conferences as is and the number of teams being even. It's a known commodity now that Fresno State is Big6 job and that Butler means nothing in this game.
I actually kind of like the prestige factor in this game. We can argue that it's out of date based on individual teams, but it's nice that it moves over time based on performance.
