My No. 1 overall pick originally demanded a $7.4M bonus, which I offered. Now he's upped his asking price to $11.2M. Dude appears to be a stud, but I'm reluctant to give in because I have only $14M in my HS scouting budget this season. Next season, however, I'll have $18M in my HS/COL scouting budget, and will be in a better position to evaluate my picks before signing. My question is this: Do I gain a comp pick next year (for not signing this year's pick) by offering only his initial demand? Or do I also have to offer his increased asking price to get that future pick?
