One of my favorite leagues I’ve played here was the Pros and Joes league. I like having the challenge of having players that I wouldn’t usually use and building around them. I wanted to try to combine it with a draft league so the idea is Studs, Duds, and Super-Subs. It may be too complicated, but I like the idea.
A 3 round draft with a 50 million dollar cap. Draft order to be decided by draftlotto.com which can be confirmed with email. No trading draft picks (for the league’s first season at least).
“Studs”
Each owner will draft 3 studs to be exclusive to their team. Studs can, however, be cloned if one of their seasons has been nominated as a dud or is drafted as a super-sub.
“Duds”
Rules for duds include
-Each owner will nominate three duds to be added to the duds draft pool, the player and the season. Two duds will be drafted by each team.
-Players can only have one season nominated as a dud.
-Duds are supposed to be flawed players. They don’t have to be horrific, but there needs to be something wrong with them and cannot be commonly used in the Sim.
-All duds must have a salary over 5 million.
-Two of the three duds nominated by owners must be at least 99% effective at two positions. Try to make at least one nomination a backcourt player (PG/SG/SF) and one a front court (SF/PF/C).
-Duds are not exclusive players. By that I mean they can still be drafted as a stud, super-sub, or used to fill out a roster.
“Super-Subs”
-Must have a salary under 4 million.
-Player and season are chosen.
-A player drafted as a super-sub is exclusive; none of the player’s seasons can be used to fill rosters after the draft. It can however be drafted as a Stud or have other seasons nominated as a Dud.
Alright I know that’s a lot but stay with me because this is how the draft would work.
ABA
First Round- Untimed round where owners pick one stud.
Second Round- Owners will take a stud, a dud, and a super-sub. Draft goes on the clock.
Third Round- Stud and dud round.
So at the end everyone will have three studs, two duds, one super-sub, and will have to fill out their roster from undrafted players. I set up the draft like this so that owners at the bottom of the order get the first pick of duds and subs.
