I drafted 2005 Pujols and had a crazy thought about playing him at 2B. His A+ range at 1B is good enough that in his performance history he has 81 games at 2B with 12 errors and 10 + plays, or something like that. But that seems too good for a guy playing out of position, especially going the wrong direction on the Bill James chart. Can someone with experience playing people out of position tell me if I can expect anything like those numbers if I play him a full season at 2B?

a D defensive rating for 2b always seems to produce fewer errors then D for ss or 3b...2b is considered easier...still that's a great result for emergency out of position defense. it would not work so good for SS.

I still wonder if someone has done some statistical work and can predict how many errors and + plays Pujols might have against modern day pitching if he played a full season at 2B

There have been similar examples posted in the forums before, unfortunately I don't remember any particular threads, but none of them have had good results.

In the progressive league I am in, I am trying 2011 Adam Jones at second base with an outfield rating of C/A. So far in 660 innings he has 58 errors. Not sure if its worth it.

it's worth it if Adam is slashing at a .350/.450/.600 pace.

You'd probably be better off with even Uribe or Jose Lopez at 2B and pushing that bum Soriano to the bench...

I once had to use 2b frank white...A-/B+ at ss...in 139 games he had 50 errors and no good plays..11 bad plays.....if he had that rating at ss and played 2b he would have had much fewer errors....like anyone can play first base.
