Alright, we've all seen clone leagues before. Most commonly you get to clone 5 guys, sometimes 6, occasionally 4. But I've never seen a league run that dared to go as low as 3. This will be that league. 3 players. Clone 'em. That's it.
Since the 3-player restriction is already fairly prohibitive, there's no maximum or minimum number of times each player may be cloned. Want to throw one guy in there one time? Fine by me. Have fun coming up with 24 seasons of your other 2 guys. Want to use all 21 seasons of Ruth? Too bad, you're over the cap. But feel free to use all 13 seasons of Joe Wood (you can use both his pitching and hitting seasons, it's still the same guy).
That aforementioned cap will be set at $100 million. No AAA. No trades. No waiver wire. Of course no DH. Injuries will be turned off, so if you want to run some guys into the ground, they can at least stay on the field. Use any ballpark you like. And since somebody's gonna ask - NO, there is absolutely NOT a $200k exception. You need 25 seasons of 3 players that fit under the cap.
I'd love to run this as a 24-team league, but that's probably not realistic. Not everybody will find a roster challenge like this to be fun. Some will find it very fun. It took me only a few iterations (over a few weeks; it's been a side tinkering project) to come up with a team I like, within the parameters of the league. It has major flaws. I have a feeling that major flaws are unavoidable. It's hard to make a team that looks like a $100 million team when you only get to use 3 guys. Regardless, I'm going to shoot for a 16-team league, but I'd even be willing to go to 12 teams if that's what we can get.
