Limited Ballpark Selection In OLs Topic

Why is it that not all the ballparks are available to use in OLs? I'd love to use Bennett Stadium but it isn't an option...or some other HR power ballparks. The only choices for HR power seem to be Yankee III, Coors, and the Launching Pad.

Wrigley?

Tiger Stadium also. But your larger point is well taken, why not let all parks be available?

Dahs - I considered Wrigley and the Kingdome, but I really wanted something with HR=3 or greater to both LF and RF. There are only the three I listed in OLs. My main point is as the good professor reiterated for me....why aren't ALL parks available in OLs? Doesn't make sense.

I like Great American...I have a few themes and OL teams playing there. One OL team is 50-27 at home, 49-30 road. Does a good job of countering the Target/AT&T cookie teams. You don't need a lot of doubles or triples. Guys like Maris and Cy Williams thrive there. You need a decent amount of quality low HR/9 innings. Obviously the deadball arms work well.. A guy like Graig Nettles gets playing time there. Good defense is a plus, but not mandatory. I like tandem or 3 man rotations. They're plentiful and not expensive. An even split of salary offense/pitching works well...

I got bored with Astrodome/Target/AT&T. Building power teams is refreshing. Where else would you use Tony Armas?

Doc - I totally agree with you. I'm bored using those pitchers ballparks. I also really like the Reds parks--Great American, Cinergy, and Riverfront...all play very similar. Actually good pitchers parks but they do yield the HR. But I wanted to really emphasize the HR in the team I drafted and I've used Yankee, Coors, and Fulton County enough times where I wanted to try Briggs or Bennett or the Wrigley that isn't available in OLs. I'll probably end up going with Yankee III again. Miller Park and the Kingdome are fun to use but I really wanted to try Bennett in an OL.

Just doesn't seem like any plausible reason NOT to allow all ballparks in the OLs. They could have made this correction when they did the salary update as well as show us the real names and stats of our OL AAA players rather than the fake names. Have the option of changing the players names if an owner wants to have funny fake names.

Yeah I don't understand the limitations either...

GABP doesn't require as many IP as Yankee III or Coors either...that makes it much easier to build a pitching staff. With AAA, I can get by with 1,300-1,350 and have NO fatigue issues...

How many dingers do you want to hit? With a few games remaining we've hit 269, surrendered 55...

Scored 950, team ERA 3.70 in 155 games...

I'm hoping for 225+. I might go with Miller Park which seems to outperform it's +1 HR to LF & RF. I want to stymie singles and it has a -2 rating.

I had submitted a support ticket on this issue just out of curiosity. Very rapid response as usual (I think support does a pretty good job). This is what they told me as to why not all ballparks are available in OLs:

For some older parks, some data had to be approximated. Some of these parks are still extreme though. We don't want to have extreme parks based off of approximated data included in basic open leagues.

In theme leagues where the commissioner can set the ballparks, we do allow them.

They will include adding the other ballparks in the next update somewhere around 2525 if man is still alive!

Haha!! That's great bheid. Honestly I don't care if the data is approximated or not. I'd rather have the ballparks available. I mean this is a game and not real baseball anyway. We all play by the same rules. Adding all the ballparks to the OL format would just make those leagues more interesting.
