Have you gotten your friends to play HD? [POLL] Topic

This is a difficult question to give poll options for and cover all possibilities...I'm going to phrase it in terms of success rate.

Please consider a "success" as having 1 person that you referred play a minimum of 6 seasons of HD. That's it. Answers are approximate.

A good follow up poll would be how long did your referrals stay, and what did they tell you reason was for leaving! In my case five years and they left because of the job logic.....how about you? The best part it was playing against one of my kids, and from that point it was priceless (to steal the image of a TV Commercial!)

I got my brother to play. He stayed probably 6-8 seasons but just got too distracted by other things and didn't end up sticking around. I wrote a blog post in which I compared real life rebuilds to HD rebuilds, and one person signed up from that, but he didn't stick around either, not sure why

My friends make fun of HD whenever I I show them it. However they enjoy the dream team matchups even if half of it makes no sense and half the players are wrong.

I also got my brother to play. He still plays. We live together, so we talk about it constantly. No one else I talked to about it actually signed up.

I have gotten 5 Co workers to play. I've also gotten 6 friends to play. So 11 in total.

As of right now only 5 are still playing. I've given the reasons many times in other threads why the 6 guys decided to only play a couple seasons but it's like people don't believe me or something.

That would be a good follow-up, because someone staying for 100 seasons vs 10 is a big deal!

Basically here's my history of "recruiting"

1. Attempted to get a few friends to play the same season I did. They each play fantasy football/basketball/baseball with me to this day. All used free seasons. Was 4 of us in the same division for 1 season in the SUNYAC. nobody stayed besides me.
2. Tried with a guy I worked with in college that played a lot of fantasy. Played 1 D3 season, joined me in D2 for 2 seasons.
3. Got my wife to try it, ended up being me telling her what to do for 90% of it. Stopped after about 5 seasons.
4. I have a friend in my fantasy leagues that plays games like OOTP (out of the park baseball). He played for 4 seasons, I actually lied to him and told him that another of our friends was also playing in the same conference. Stopped because he said the game was boring.
5. Showed game to sister-in-law's boyfriend, who's really into fantasy. Got him to say "hey maybe you could pick up another D3 team if I start out there". He never paid the signup fee. Might take another stab in promo season.

Nobody got into it! Never even got to the point where they could complain about job logic, outside of the fact that they have to start at D3.

I got my brother and cousin to play long term but a coworker didn't pan out as he played 2 seasons of GD and quit. So I chose 75% rate.

My cousin went from having 4 GD teams to 0 and has dropped down to 2 HD teams and told me yesterday he'll likely drop that down to 1 team overall. So in 2-3 years he's gone from having 10 teams between GD and HD down to 2 and may quit in the next couple of months as he's lost interest and lacks time.

My brother has done about the same thing as we all quit GD around the same time after they rolled out the new engine. My brother is down to 3 HD teams (i think) and may drop to 2 teams in the following months due to time constraints (his 2 kids both play summer sports).

I've dropped from 10-12 overall worlds between HD/GD myself down to 3 HD teams and will probably stick around long enough to try this new upgrade if/when it happens.

Got 1 friend to play maybe 4 or 5 seasons of HD and maybe 10 seasons of GD. All other referral attempts (3 or so) have failed
