A good follow up poll would be how long did your referrals stay, and what did they tell you reason was for leaving! In my case five years and they left because of the job logic.....how about you? The best part it was playing against one of my kids, and from that point it was priceless (to steal the image of a TV Commercial!)
That would be a good follow-up, because someone staying for 100 seasons vs 10 is a big deal!
Basically here's my history of "recruiting"
1. Attempted to get a few friends to play the same season I did. They each play fantasy football/basketball/baseball with me to this day. All used free seasons. Was 4 of us in the same division for 1 season in the SUNYAC. nobody stayed besides me.
2. Tried with a guy I worked with in college that played a lot of fantasy. Played 1 D3 season, joined me in D2 for 2 seasons.
3. Got my wife to try it, ended up being me telling her what to do for 90% of it. Stopped after about 5 seasons.
4. I have a friend in my fantasy leagues that plays games like OOTP (out of the park baseball). He played for 4 seasons, I actually lied to him and told him that another of our friends was also playing in the same conference. Stopped because he said the game was boring.
5. Showed game to sister-in-law's boyfriend, who's really into fantasy. Got him to say "hey maybe you could pick up another D3 team if I start out there". He never paid the signup fee. Might take another stab in promo season.
Nobody got into it! Never even got to the point where they could complain about job logic, outside of the fact that they have to start at D3.
