Any last minute recruiting advice as I jump into D1 recruiting for the first time in a long time? At Duquesne in Knight. Thanks!

Don't battle any teams, with better prestige, unless it's minimal difference and you have more money, and or are closer to the target.

look for high potential and players with clear strengths (rather than being mediocre at everything)

Sign a few players cheap.....be prepared to get poached..notice the timing of other teams actions

A little off topic... Has anyone offered a scholarship to a recruit (in a better division), they declined early on, and then you were able to offer later and they at least concidered you offer at that point? So in other words they denied you first scholarship offer, they didn't get recruited by who they wanted, and then you offered again and they concidered it? Thank in advance.

They only way to know for sure if those guys can be recruited is send the coach or player a phone call. If you get a message indicating you're a backup option then it's possible the kid can be recruited. If you don't get the indication you're a backup option then he can't ever be recruited by your team.

If you're a backup option you can do one of two things. You can try to pull him down (called a pulldown) with scouting trips (STs). A good starting point is to send 10 STs. Some players require more STs to pulldown, others less, but there's no way to know ahead of time. And the later in recruiting you are the less STs are needed to pull him down. Make sure you also offer a scholarship to complete the pulldown.

The other option is to wait until the recruit drops to you (called a dropdown). Starting at 10am (CST) on day 2 of recruiting recruits that initially showed up on your D2 list (assuming you're playing D3) that aren't being considered by anyone can drop down a division and will be recruitable by you. As long as you already have a phone call into the kid and he'll contact you if he drops down and is immediately recruitable. If he drops to your level no need to send STs to recruit him, you can recruit him just like any other D3 kid.

If you already have a scholarship offer into the kid no need to offer a second one (unless you withdrew your initial scholarship).
