A recruit's "childhood favorite" team listed on the FSS report! Does this have any significant effect on recruiting? For example, if a blue chip recruit loves a team that has low prestige, is it prudent for the low level team to attempt to recruit this player? Are there guidelines for this? Or will the top teams always win out? Just wondering if this was a random variable that could help a lesser team get a star once in a blue moon.

It helps, but not much. I can't put a number on it.

Honestly, I think it ranks right up there with a phone call in worth (if that). I also always felt that it was a flaw to have it so low in value. Many recruits wish to go near home and family or the school they followed or where other family members attended or attend in real life. So I guess this is one of those "not like real life" WIS occurrences.

Adding texture to recruiting is one of my favorite thoughts about how the game COULD be improved in a not total rewrite way.

Make preferences matter more

And then add a bunch of other preferences

- want great academics
- want party school
- want cold weather and skiiing
- want warm weather
- more

Then also add pipelines where recruiting one kid from a high school helps for the next few seasons recruit other kids from that school

And pipelines from small geographic areas - need to adjust for population density.

Texture would help non elite teams snare diamonds in the rough and build the VCU's, SFA's etc etc

Want to be away from home needs to be a distance based multiplier to effort and close to home a distance based divisor. Also, you should start out(in the new system) A: automatically knowing about those that that consider them a favorite school and B: having more than basic scouting on them inherently.
