personally, i am worried about the life of this game, after the 6ish weeks of downtime the entire game will experience. games like this become a constant companion, and we are nothing if not creatures of habit. force everyone to break that habit, and how many will come back? its a pretty scary proposition. if it was only guys who needed that little nudge to give up an old habit that they no longer truly enjoy, it would be fine, but what about the folks who were still happy customers but find a different hobby in the interlude?
on the other hand, taking a break can be a good thing, it can distance us from the little things that annoy us, and many will miss HD during that time. the folks who come back, maybe they'll come back invigorated, excited to take on the new challenges of the update, and maybe the community vibe after the break (and the exodus of the "downers") will be more positive overall? this game has a passionate community, but we are WAY too negative as a bunch, for the size of the game/community. maybe some pruning is in order, and the rose bush will grow back stronger than ever? seems like a hail mary of sorts, but i also think its as good of a time as any for such a maneuver. a reset might be exactly what this game needs.
