Effect of new coach on recruit effort Topic

This is something I observed that happened in Knight, couldn't find it specifically addressed anywhere in the 3.0 documentation. I am coaching Memphis and was High against Florida State's Very High for a recruit, then the coach left. While the team remained SIM controlled we both remained High and Very High, then when a new human coach came in (this was all during the jobs period so no recruiting cycles were run) I jumped to the only team as Very High, and Florida State dropped to Very Low. If this is the way it's supposed to be working that means there is a recruiting penalty for taking on a new team. If that's the case it would be nice to have that noted somewhere so coaches are not caught off guard.

Yes this is correct.

You lose a major portion of effort that the old coach put in, but you also get a fully refreshed budget, so it may even out (depending on the quality of the previous coach's recruiting)

It can't even out because you don't have time to catch back up with attention points. Another reason why in season recruiting and signing is a bad idea. In season scouting is AWESOME, I love that but with attention points and # of cycles putting a huge limit on how well a new coach can do I'm not if favor of HD 3.0

edit: also add in the whole EE screwup basically screwing teams with EE and then give them a reduced "attention points" and asking them to compete is crap.

Yeah, the EE thing is really tricky to solve, but I think there are two pretty easy changes that could at least mitigate the damage:

1. Have a non-signing cycle before the 2nd signing period.
2. Give extra APs for EEs.

The loss of recruiting effort is realistic and adds another layer of decision making to switching teams.

It does add a layer but I think for the negative, we already have guys camping out at teams for 30+ yrs, I'd rather have movement every 7 or 8 yrs rather than 28 yrs. I think more movement would add a fun realistic change to the game.

Hint hint: firings atleast

I've generally been a bigger fan of 3.0 than many here but I'm not crazy about the impact of getting hired and taking over a team toward the end of recruiting. Generally speaking, it's going to be tough to find quality players that late in the process. You can always look for a team that doesn't have any openings or just one or two openings, but that's kind of just a work around to the real problem.
