I have just made a deal to acquire a couple of prospects for a veteran pitcher. Deal was accepted today and tonight is his arbitration hearing. I've never been through this situation before. Will system arbitrate him while this trade has yet to go through? I am working to contact the other team as to whether or not to sign and trade him before arbitration hearing. He wants less money on a long term deal. He wants $7.9 in arbitration but only $5.6 a year on a three year deal. He is 30. I was planning on trying to sign him to 2 or 3 years at $5.6 a year before trade was accepted. I had told other team this and I think that is probably the direction they would prefer but like I said that I have yet to confirm it. So what I'm asking is what will system do if I do nothing? Will it sign him through arbitration? Will trade be nullified because something changed in respect to the players contract during the wait for it to go through? Thanks
