Multiyear promises Topic

What do you think of promises for starts and minutes that would entail a multiyear commitment? For example, "four year starter". You'd get more credit, but if you promised it you'd find it more difficult to juggle the roster to accommodate recruits down the road.

This might be used along with "long term coach", reputation and loyalty because a recruit would be skeptical of someone who was always team-hopping or new to a program.

Would this favor the big boys or hurt them? On one hand, they could make this promise figuring the player would go EE. On the other, they might find themselves having no room to promise a five-star recruit (that they would have no trouble working into the starting lineup) because they still have promises to fulfill.

I actually like this suggestion.

I would also like to see a Redshirt option that says "Promise Start After Red Shirt Season", or "Promised Start" in SOPH season.

Seems like a problem for job changes and rebuilds, without gaining much anywhere else.

I think the football version of this game (Gridiron Dynasty) all you to promise start as a soph.

I would love to see a Sophomore starter option or the start after redshirt option or even promise minutes after redshirt. I have a plan for everyone I recruit and its frustrating when the recruit wont accept it so I throw him on the bench and he under develops.

Could be easily implemented with "3 year starter" guarantees or "2 year starter" guarantees. This covers all options, I think even having a 4 year starter option and telling them they will be redshirting could turn into 1 season redshirt then immediate starting. From a coding perspective this shouldn't be hard. If you offer 3 year starter then this could go in effect in a So (RS) season or So Season in general, as long as he has 3 years of starting. Too simplify issues with previous coaches when a new coach joins you could wipe all promises out because realistically this would be the case if a coach left a program, all promises are null and void.

Job changes are easy fixings -- all promises made cease to exist if the coach who recruited the player leaves the program.

As for rebuilds, could be an advantage in recruiting. If I have a contending program, I can't easily go throwing around a 4-year starter promise. If I'm doing a rebuild though and I either just kicked Sim AI out the door or the previous coach at my program was a moron, obviously I have no qualms about offering a 4-year start position as the guys I bring in are likely better than what I have in-house. Not sure what the effect on D1 would be other than I'm taking on a pretty sizable rebuild and would love to have had an extended start promise and its weight to possibly help me get a quality body through the door in session 2 to try and anchor the program as it builds.
