Sim altering team off./def. sets Topic

I coached Arizona in Naismith last year and moved to Stanford after the season. I noticed that sim has changed from a man/flex system to a press/fast break one. Why does this need to happen? What insane piece of logic determines that in addition to non-recruiting sim teams should be dragged down with low IQs for at least a season or two? I did not know that this could happen and it should stop in my opinion.

It's to keep a variety of sets in the game so the most popular O and D don't end up being the only ones used. I agree with WIS on this one.

They did it to balance out the O/D that teams run so they have been reverting to original setup since 3.0 rolled out.

I think its good to get a variety instead of 90% of D3 teams running press.

I don't know about D3 but if there is a shortage of fastbreak or pressing teams in D1 you can trace it back to when WIS decided to punish coaches who used those sets by exaggerating the fatigue factor back around season 30 or 40. I had teams who were serious contenders completely destroyed b/c admin decided pressing for an entire game was unrealistic. They backpedaled 3 or 4 years later, but most pressing/fb teams had been forced to change.
