I’ll start with my IUPUI team in Phelan. I’m in my 8th season there and this team was my first shot in D1. A few of us have been working to build up the Summit League and we have a good group of coaches there. We just finished Season 114 with the 5th ranked conference RPI. I took over IUPUI in Season 107 with D- prestige. Recruiting with a D- provides some challenges to say the least and I ended up with a decent class and some solid supporting players that I rode to my first NT appearance 4 seasons later and B- prestige. That helped me recruit the guys I have today, who led the team back to the NT with a 6 RPI last season, but still disappointed with a 2nd round NT exit. I was excited for a huge year next season coming off a good season with 5 returning seniors, but our best player went EE to the draft and will leave a big hole in the offense. Still looking forward to a solid season in 115 and recruiting with a B prestige.
Here are some of the key players that have been a huge part of the IUPUI dynasty so far:
Past Players
William Harper – First big time scorer I recruited to IUPUI. Started all 4 years and is now the school’s all-time leading scorer.
Joe Politowski – 4-star recruit from the east coast. Made it to 7th on the all-time scoring list in 3 seasons before going EE to the NBA draft.
Current Players
PG Drew Rose – Has run the point since coming in as a highly recruited freshman. Very good ball handler and distributor will facilitate the offense this season.
SG Michael Waters – Should be a solid scorer in his senior season. Hoping he can fill the void left by Joe Po.
C Ivan Caraballo – Junior big man should be a good low post scorer, defender and rebounder.
