So when you do the 'arb trick' and settle on the arb year salary (Season 1) and then lock them into the LT contract (Season 2+), if I add a bonus to the LT Contract, does the bonus add on to S1 arb salary or the S2 salary?

Bonuses are same season but, in this case, you can't arb a bonus into the equation. Try it and tell us.

Follow up question about arb, does it make sense to just always offer 70% of their demands or does offering 90% have a better chance to win than the 70%?

Depends on who you ask. None of us know for sure.

The overwhelming majority of the time, you will only win when your offer is above the average listed, but below the player’s request.

If he wants less than average, it’s almost impossible to win.

Just to update, I had 8 players up for Arb, and I offered around $100K - $200K less than asking, depending on what they were asking, I won 5 of them so I knocked off about $600K which I'm happy with since I try and squeeze out every penny I can with my budget.

Side note, I've never been in the position of going over player payroll, which happened after I arb'ed everyone, with the thought I was going to try and move some salary. Apparently you get a very short amount of time to clear salary and it stole $1M from 5 different budget categories. Kind of sucks you don't get a little buffer to clear salary to get under budget but now I know I guess!
