Setting lineups based off performance Topic

I always usually hit the "optimize" button, then make changes based off ratings first early in the season. But I notice that some players over perform and under perform. A player can have above average ratings or elite ratings an under perform all season long and some players with below average or terrible ratings can over perform and put up better numbers. Ill then play those players more often. Does anyone else base there line ups off performance instead?

All the time. Especially when I look at vsR/vsL splits and whether I need to platoon. Sometimes the team is playing well, but you're looking at the lineup and thinking it shouldn't work, maybe this other thing will work better... but you wait till the thing that shouldn't work stops working.

Nah, long as I just stretch the hammies and the calves a little I'm good to go.

I have been told once when I sent in a ticket to complain about my stud hitter with great ratings that hit like a pansy. I was told that sometimes it matters where players hit in the lineup as to do with better hitting or not.

Ultimately, it's independent trials and you should continue to be process-oriented and arrange the inputs in the best possible way...

Lol this is nonsense.

IMO opinion the regular season is like field work. I test and and confirm hypotheses, I try various combinations gathering data. Then when the playoffs come around I already know how various lineup combinations work. With any individual game this would be silly, but I believe a 162 game season is a large enough body of work to put together various meaningful sample sizes. My goal it gather enough data in enough situations to have know exactly what I my guys can do in against various pitchers come playoffs. It doesn't always work, but it works enough.

Well you take that up with WIS. Before discount something, do your research.

Do you mean to imply that you have done some research and found that answer to actually be something other than nonsense?

remember all "testing" is done with variable data on the other side of the field (different pitchers, different parks, different defenses) ... very difficult to specify why things trend one way or another, which is what makes it part research, part crapshoot (kind of like real baseball, honestly, which I think would be the point of the simulation)

"Fooled by Randomness." It's a good book.

I've got a guy with 91 contact and a 77 vL/35 vR. He's way better vs righties this season. Surely that has to be a fluke, but it's a full season of work. Not sure whether to trust it in the playoffs or not.
