Just 21 and played HiA last year, but is the best player on the farm and could make a legitimate impact in the majors at his young age. Would you wait to call him up, so I could control him longer, and if I do call him up to the majors immediately, will he get angry. Finally, if I do call him up, can I do that "wait 18 days" trick the Cubs did with Russell and Bryant to not spend service time

The "wait 18 day" trick is actually "call them up after 20 games have been played by the ML club" trick and it does work in this game.

My advice is to play him a full season at AAA (assuming you have better coaches there than AA) then call him up after 20 games the following season.

I agree that he's a liability anywhere but 1B and Colome is miles better so it wouldn't make sense to rush him. If he were the best option at 1B, I'd say call him up this season. But he isn't.

I also agree he needs to be in AAA, assuming that's where your best hitting coach is.

The number to save a year of service time is actually 20 MINOR league DAYS not games.

Look at your AAA schedule and count 20 days (including any off days).
You call them up after the game played on that 20th day and he'll log 156 days of service time or whatever, which will technically count as 0.

I like him just a little better than Bripat does. As a 21-yo who was a high school draftee he might be done, but he might also have 5-6 points of growth left in him. Typically, I'd expect 2-4 in all the hitting categories except power, which has probably peaked. And if I'm right, he'll then be playable at 1B against RHP, more of a second-division starter than a pure backup.

But yeah, he's a marginal major leaguer at best right now, put him in AAA this season.

In Capra, the only league I am in, he would be about a .730-ish hitter who has to play 1B. Keep him in the minors.....but I would be playing him at AA or AAA, wherever you have the Hitting Coach with the highest rating, just to try to squeeze an extra point or two out of him.

If he can start on your ML team bring him up.. Especially position players. if you go up to arb. and beyond you get about 10 full years, assuming he leaves for free agency.. I'd rather have them from 21-31 than 22-32 -- he'll start losing power at 30-31 most likely.

With that being said I doubt he leaves as a FA unless you don't don't want him. So you'll be able to control him as long as you want..

Btw, they improve at the ML level too..
