I never had an Academic Non Qualifier with 18 minutes study hall, ruled ineligible? What happens next year? See my West Virginia Wesleyan team in Wooden. Is he as dumb as a brick or am I?

Well why only 18 minutes? He can’t practice whatsoever. he should have atleast 70-80 minutes SH.

I have never given more then twenty in all the years I have been coaching!, Especially when it was a kid who could not pass the SAT and had a good GPA. Perhaps I am the one that is dumb as a brick!

if they came in as a non-qualifier, ALL individual practice minutes should go to study hall.
80-90 minutes usually puts them in pretty good shape where they don't need a lot of study hall time in future seasons.

Unless it is a DIII school, SH is the only thing to practice.

No one answered this whole question. And i'm curious of the last part.....

what happens next season? (Or beyond even).... does he leave next season? Is he treated like a normal roster player? Does his ineligible semester guarantee he won't return for a 5th season now? Or no effect on that?

I expect that no one will be able to answer because just about everyone puts all available minutes into study hall for any DI nonqualifier - your experience is likely rare

It wasn't my experience. But what i'm asking, and the question the OP asked that was never answered by anyone....

if you have a player who was an ineligible and had to sit out the first season on your roster, and THEN at any point of his playing career (sophomore, junior season, etc) becomes ineligible for a semester because of grades, are the outcomes similar to any other player that becomes ineligible for a semester? OR is it different? Does it cause you to miss out on his 5th/Sr season automatically? Does he leave your school at the end of the season of his ineligible semester? Or any other circumstances that might be unique?

I had a player who sat out his first season as ineligible. At the end of his redshirt sophomore year his GPA fell below 2.0 and he was ineligible for the last part of the season. He got his GPA back up and ended up staying for his redshirt senior season.
