I just want to say that I don't blame kelly1 for taking that trade that was offered. I do think it is quite lopsided and it's the reason I don't like the draft pick trades in general. When a lopsided trade occurs, it doesn't just impact the teams involved. I think mbj will be hurt by the deal, but I think that it gives k1 a leg up on the rest of the field who didn't trade as well. It's a zero sum affair - If every body starts with $100 and if player A gets $20 from player B, then player A is not only $40 ahead of player B, but also $20 ahead of the field as well. I'm not sure I've made my point well, but there it is. No hard feelings k1.
First of all, no hard feelings dipped. Welcome back and good luck this year.
I understand what you are saying, but I don't agree. I do not believe that every position in the draft is equal, so in your example we don't all start with $100. Some start out better and some start out worse. We both traded down and got an advantage for doing that. You judged the advantage you gained to be acceptable and the advantage I gained unacceptable. But let's compare where we are after those deals.
I have 11 picks out of the first 212. You have 11 picks out of the first 241. That's a difference of 29 spots across the 9th and 10th rounds. But how about if we consider the most elite players? You got 4 of the top 49 players. It takes me to pick 109 to make my fourth pick. A difference of 60 players in the 3rd & 4th rounds. Altogether I don't feel like I have a huge advantage over you. In fact, I think I still have work to do to catch up.
So for the "acceptable" advantage you got it took me an "unacceptable" advantage to not quite catch up. I think this is because you started with a much more than $100 and I started with much less. I'm not willing to accept that trying to catch up to you creates a problem for everyone.
