I am at D2, put 20hvs, 1cv, start, 25 minutes, 591 ap, can’t get higher than low against D3 teams A prestige. I am C+ in second season.

What are the preferences? At this point in recruiting (2nd day of RS2 in tark) the other school could have doubled your AP with 45/cycle, so there could well be a massive difference. I wouldn’t call it strange based on the information given.

At this point, I’ve given up trying to sign Roy Barco. Those D3 schools ran me dry and I can’t get off VL.

did you offer the scholly?

Maybe if D3 is going all in on that one player and had great preferences, then they would have a chance with an upper division. And I mean all AP, HVs, and CVs. Also there must be a few open schollys and personally I wouldn’t put all my eggs in one basket in D3 if I was in that situation.

As far as we know the impact of prestige hasn't changed since the switch to 3.0. I haven't cared much about recruiting since 3.0 came out, but I think it's fair to say that in 2.0 the difference between an A-prestige D3 and a C+-prestige D2 was comfortably south of 25%. I'm estimating very conservatively there to try to keep other coaches on board with the assessment; my best guess is that it's something more like 17-18%. What I really don't know is whether AP are the same amongst divisions. The most likely assumption is that yes, they are, and differ only by the prestige advantage. In which case if, as shoe3 pointed out is entirely possible, they are 400-500 AP ahead of you, it's not unreasonable for you to be behind. If they offered the start/minutes earlier and got more multipliers on the other actions, that helped too.

I suspect that it wouldn't be all that unlikely for an A D3 to actually have a multiplier advantage over a C+ D2 if the preferences favored the D3. I haven't had a difficult time at all battling D2s in 3.0. Of course the one way you can really get burned as the D3 school is if the player has an earlier signing preference and you never really get into play. But if you can stay ahead, you can easily outbattle one division up.

Not exactly strange since this is the new normal. I couldn't get above Moderate as a D1 vs D2 after going all in plus promises.

But don't worry guys, 3.0 is so much more realistic.

Was the lower division already actively recruiting the player before you began pursuing him? That’s the only way that I have had any luck winning against a higher division.

Zorzii is almost certainly getting killed in AP prioritization, and probably in preferences, too. There’s nothing unrealistic about a guy who is never going to play professional ball picking a lower division school, if they prioritize him, and give him what he wants.

I assumed we were discussing recruiting versus other humans in higher divisions.

Got ya. I didn't know if you were thinking that as well.
