Unique franchise based progressive filled Topic

Guys our FAN FAVORITE FRANCHISE PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE (FFFPL) NEEDS ONE OWNER.

Have a favorite team that isn't Detroit. Fan Favorite Franchise Progressive could still be for you. Where else can you have a legitimate shot at proving you could have out gm'd MLB GM's and out manage MLB managers. You have the same core players MLB team has but have the opportunity to shape the rest of your team to fit your preferences. And if you like the Browns (soon to be Orioles), Senators (becoming Twins in future), White Sox, or Athletics we have an option that would let you own that franchise. Sitemail for more info.

We are entering our third season and need an owner to take over the Michigan Tigers. Current owner was a first time progressive league player and decided progressives weren't his cup of tea. What players are on the way to Detroit???? Kaline, Bunning, Kuenn, Freeman, Cash, to join Kell, Wertz and others. A bit later Lolich and Mclain....this franchise is tough from 55ish to...well 2000.

Whoever takes this franchise slot will have the 1st pick in the 12 team NL draft half of our 24 team league.

The rules for the league can be found at the bottom of the page. They are lengthy as we tried to address all questions in the rules before we entered our first season due toThe FFFPL unique format. Please don't be daunted. Sitemail questions.

MICHIGAN TIGERS 1952 ROSTER (all players listed you would have rights to select keepers and FFP's) one player to cut

if you like the format but not Michigan Tigers there is an option. you could have the Athletics, Browns, Senators or White Sox franchises. In these cases you would take all of the NON FFP Players from above plus have up to three years to complete you roster with incoming rookies from your chosen franchise (you would have to take all rookies from said franchise until you reach 9 then you would proceed like any other team)

Progressives are meant to progress. We will move from one season to the next quickly. I have found this very effective for keeping owners interested, involved and long term. Please join if you can commit to doing this.

THERE IS A CHANCE THAT WE WILL HAVE TO MODIFY ABOVE RULES IF THE NEED TO FINE TUNE ARISES.
*amended February 19, 2018 for the first season.

ANNOTATIONS:
New Owner Joining league at any time in future.
Basically new owners have three options:
1) Take over team as it stands in its entirety including FFF (MLB affiliate)

2) Take over team but change his MLB Affiliate to an unused West division team.
3) Take over team by selecting to take an expansion team. (ie Angels, Expos, Mets, Mariners, Rockies)

I may be interested in this team. Can you tell me what teams are currently in the league so I know which teams are defunct to pick from as rookies.
8/19/2018 1:42 PM
Your basic draft pool would be the rookies from the Browns, Senators, WhiteSox, and A's
8/19/2018 1:56 PM
Plus whoever was not taken as FFPs from the NL teams, correct?
8/19/2018 2:03 PM
right
8/19/2018 2:09 PM
A few more questions:

If I take the Tigers can I edit the guys that they have as FPPs? Or are they already set at Game 125 as it states in the rules?

Also, do I spend draft picks on the players that I select as FPPs, or do they just get automatically assigned to me?

I'm assuming from the rule that you can't vote for trades in opposite leagues that it means that interleague trades are illegal, correct?

If a player played for more than one team in his rookie WiS season but the other team is not in the league (currently the Athletics, Browns, Senators, White Sox) can I claim him as a FPP if he played for part of his rookie season with my team? For instance the Tigers and Browns made a trade in 1952 so a few of their rookies played for both teams. Normally from what I can tell by the rules a rookie is eligible as a FPP for the first team he played for that year, but if the other team is not in the league could I pick him as a FPP?

1) No keepers or FFPs have been posted for 1952 for Detroit........BUT........you cant edit your FFPs.
If you have a rookie that you want to label as an FFP, you must CUT the one you are removing from FFP.

2) New FFPs are listed with your 1952 keeper list, so no, they dont cost you a draft pick.

3) There are no Interleague trades.

4) Rookies belong to the first team he had partial stats with.
If a rookie played for the Browns and the Tigers, but only had partial stats for one of those teams, that is the team he belongs to.
If the other team is not in the league the player goes into the draft pool.

1) Ok, so I'm a bit confused and it seems like you're saying conflicting things. You say I can't edit my FFPs, but if I wanted to add a rookie FFP I'd have to remove another FFP. Isn't that editing the FFPs? Detroit currently has 8 FFPs and from what I read of the rules I can have up to nine, so can't I add one rookie FFP without cutting one (and just cut another player on my roster.)

Some more follow up questions,

-Are the only way to get FFPs are from the guys we add as rookies, and do they stay FFPs even after they leave your team? For instance one of the decent Rookies for Detroit in 1952 is Shortstop Harvey Kuenn. Does he remain an FFP as long as I keep him on my roster, or can I only list him as an FFP until 1959 since he moved to Cleveland in 1960.

-If I remove a player as a FFP does he go back into the draft, or is he just lost forever?
8/19/2018 8:09 PM
When I say you cant edit your keepers I mean you cant change an FFP label from Saul Rogovin to Turk Lown.

If you have a rookie you want to make an FFP you have to cut a previous FFP.(and by cut, I mean send him to the draft pool).
So remember, if you already have 9 solid FFPs, and you have 2 good rookies coming, you will have to chose which of your 9 solid FFPs to CUT.

Detroit has an FFP on IR (Art Houtteman), so he is your 9th FFP.

Kuenn will stay as an FFP for as long as you want him to.

You cant keep a rookie unless you label him as an FFP.. Any other rookies go directly to the draft pool.

thanks grayfox excellent follow up. Your incoming rookies are assigned rights on draft page just in case of confussion. You can claim any or all from your franchise but must release (to the traft pool) or have a guy on Ir (no wis stats for that season) or a retiree to add one or more new players....always gotta have minimum of 3 pitchers and 3 hitters.

Also, in both leagues the west division is made up of the representatives of the other league....ie Detroit, NYY, Red Sox, Indians are in NL West as well as part of the 8 AL teams in AL east and central with different owners and players.... thus no trades between leagues.

So guys on IR would still count against your 9 FFPs?
