I've seen other posts about this but it still blows my mind how little the SIM does this when I have it set to very aggressive. Case and point my last game (loss). Top of the first inning. Leadoff man gets on. #2 walks. NO OUTS. 1st and 2nd with good baserunners and my #3 hitter doesn't strike out often.

HE HITS INTO A DOUBLE PLAY. No H&R attempt.

WHY?

This is pretty anecdotal. Maybe he hit a ground ball up the middle? Or a really hard hit ball in general? Hit and run doesn’t guarantee no double play. There are probably thousands of examples of this in real baseball

Yes, I know. But the SIM box score shows you when a H&R was attempted. And it wasn't at all in this situation and it was textbook and I had it set to 5 so it should have IMO. I check all my box scores and see it hardly being attempted IN situations WHEN IT SHOULD.

That's my point.

Using baseball logic (not sim logic), runners at 1st and 2nd is not commonly considered a hit and run situation.

When they have combined 130 SB between them, I think it is. Especially when the batter is high contact.

But it's not just that one situation. It happens a lot. I try and do 5 H&R and avoid DPs and advance runners against dead ball pitchers with high contact guys and the SIM doesn't do a H&R when they should.

It's frustrating. I'd rather play LIVE more but I can never get anyone in my season to do so.

Reading the box scores can be fun but you’re going to get frustrated if you take every example where the sim logic doesn’t agree with what you think should happen, and try to dissect it.

I hear you, but then we need to have more control over the sim. If I want my team to H&R often they should. IMO

And they probably do, compared to other teams with lower settings. I've seen it make a noticeable difference for my own teams.

Yeah. I hope down the road they improve the LIVE sim. Because that would be more fun. Then any mistakes would be mine and not the decision of Sparky.
