End Of Season Rating Bumps Topic

Sadly it's only been a couple of seasons ago that I learned how critical it is to promote your players at the end of each season (as opposed to the beginning of the new year) so you don't lose the point or two in attributes that you gain on most players when promoting them a level.

Question though. How do you handle AAA prospects? Are there any negative consequences to promoting a guy from AAA and then immediately demoting him? I guess you'd have to add him to the 40-man if he's not already on it and burn an option year, but if he's a top guy that's probably not an issue. Is there anything else that I should be concerned about related to end-of-the-season AAA callups/immediate demotions?

I have wondered this same thing. The additional question that I have is if you promote them to the show after playoff roster has already been established, and they are not on the playoff roster, do they accrue mlb service time because there are still playoff games being played?

They will not accrue service time beyond the 162 game mark

Can someone explain the promotion of players thing in more detail please.
Thank you

After each minor league team has finished playing their games, including playoffs, promote all "true" prospects to the next level. There is a chance that each one of them will receive a minor/major final development bump.

I have not seen this.

I do it at the end of every season and even get bumps from players that got zero bumps all season because they are mostly done developing.
Obviously these players need to have options left because they are on my ML team and I demote them to AAA and right back to ML's.

Do you have any examples? If it only to the ml team I can believe it but not at the lower levels.

I had some examples last season, but once the season rolls, you cannot see the last cycle. I have seen minimal ratings increases, but I have also seen huge increases on a final promotion to a DITR or high level prospect in his first year. IF I REMEMBER, I will try to post at the end of this season. Also, it typically only works on guys that have not received that fifth 'regular season' bump and have made the minor league playoffs for extra games to be played. It does not work with every player.
