Prospect
I designated a player for assignment yesterday. His roster status is pending waivers. Today is arbitration day and he is arb eligible. Is there any way to prevent this guy from getting auto arbed while he is on waivers?

No. The key to arb guys you don't want to keep is to release them. There is no reason to DFA in this case. Release drops them ASAP. DFA prolongs that process and, in this case, you will be stuck with that salary for the season -- unless someone else claims the player.
