One-Day Lineup Changes Topic

For whatever reason, this hadn't come up for me before, but last season a lot of my position players really started to deal with fatigue down the stretch.

I have the player rest setting at 99 for everyone, so by the latter third of the year, a few of the guys were basically sitting out every other day. I'd like to spread their rest out more evenly this year.

I don't suppose there's a simple way to schedule lineup changes on the calendar, is there? It would have to be done manually before every game?

What strategies do you guys use to keep everyone fresh?

Platoons help some like a rf vs r and a rf vs l. I don't know of an easy way so I just pull a guy out for a few games here and there.

I have just 2 seasons under my belt. I had the same problem in my first season. In the second season I made a plan for each individual player based on durability rating and experience with the player. I had no issues. Also 99% is an arbitrary number that you are using, however that absolutely is not tired. You want to avoid getting to point where you are forced to rest players. Some tactics that worked for me:

1. Limit exposure for Veterans during Spring Training
2. I had a 21 year old rookie player in just his 3rd pro season, I left in the minors for the first 20 games, only actually playing him in the last 5 games of that 20.
3. I bookend off days with rest days so lower durability guys get 3 days off instead of one.
4. I rest players for unfavorable match ups. ing . My catcher is my best hitter, he has low durability ratings, I held him out most of the spring, used the bookend tactic and rested him for the series before and after the AS game.
6. If the standings allow, I rest players against the lesser teams.
7. Have a good 4th outfielder and 5th infielder. my 4th of had over 300 ABs and 5th infielder had about 350 ABs

Make sure your settings allow player rest for defensive replacements in blowouts too

Platoons where needed, defensive replacements, and player rest in blowouts. My bench players are always defensive specialists or platoon players for specific uses. These three things take up 95% of rest requirements in a set-and-forget manner. And all my bench players get at least 100 at bats per season.

I won't go into details, but setting or checking you lineup and pitching before every game will make a difference of at least 12-15 wins in a season, sometime many more!

Lots of good input on here.
