Can't Fulfill Promise, But Rewarded w Late Cash? Topic

Here's something that supposedly happened that is nuts:

An owner couldn't fulfill his recruiting promises to one of his freshmen.
At the end of the season the freshman left the program.
The owner was then given extra cash for Recruiting Session 2 due to the guy bailing. <--- that's the nutty part... still trying to confirm if this actually happened. The extra cash allowed the owner to win a close 4-way recruiting contest for a 5-star.

The battle ended up 35% (him), 31%, 21% (me), and 13%.
He leapfrogged the 31% guy and the 21% guy by getting this cash.

During the time between sessions, i was maxed out with 20/1 and 25-min, 500+AP's, and Very High. The others were either Moderate or Low. Just something to keep in mind.

Do you just "think" this happened? Based off your own calculations (regarding the cash). Or did you communicate with the coach?

I had 2 guys leaves Memphis a season ago because of broken promises. I didn't get any money.

The owner had posted this on the Coaches Corner. He's a good guy.

So he was given half the cash, $1500, plus 20 extra AP's, due to his freshman bailing. (The freshman, as it turns out, really shouldn't have left, because he was given 22 starts thru 26 games, plus was right around 20 minutes.)

To me this is an HD flaw... an owner shouldn't be handed extra cash and AP's in this situation where a guy leaves due to unhappiness. But we are here to learn and i wanted to point this out to everyone.

I think some recruits are starting to get a little more serious about their promises they've been offered. When it comes to promised starts, I usually get by with alternating starts, then bench... starts, then bench.... all the way thru non-con, give or take a game or two, before I get the hatemail. Then I start the player every game in conference play.

But this season, I had a player that started 8 out of 9 games, and sent me the hatemail when I benched him for game 10. I realize that it's right at the 80% mark. So it's not completely out of the ordinary. But in my experiences, early in the season i've always gotten away with a lot more. And I work back UP to the 80% to make him happy again.

it's not out of the ordinary for me to arrive at game 10, and have a promised player with 4 starts and 5 benchings, and not receive the hate mail until that day. That's down to almost 44% starts at that point. (But getting that player up to 21 of 26 makes him happy and gets him up to the 80% at seasons end).

I wonder if the missed promises was due to an injury the player suffered. Example injury occurs in the 1st minute of a game, obviously this drags the minutes played down dramatically.

Then post injury the player is physically unable to play the minutes scheduled due to a less than 100% health.

Or maybe the player has foul issues that prevents him from hitting his minutes goal each game.

Just some thoughts.
