Signing draft picks, yellow X Topic

‘ Trying to sign my picks and the offers are being cancelled and I’m left with a Yellow X... the message in response is “Hank is content with your offer, but is still unclear about his future. College is still an option, so he's gonna...”

In the past the offer would stay live until he rejects or asks for more money.. I’ve never seen a yellow X before

We just had a draft in one of my worlds and I got the normal empty bubble that we've always gotten. Not sure why that's happening to you. That's crazy.

Send a ticket. Definitely sounds weird.

Did you ever figure out what happened? This is happening to me right now. Thanks

I had this happen last year. It is a budget issue with either current or future payroll.
The logic doesnt make sense to me but this is what CS had said then.
We just had the Draft this AM and I offered contracts, had cap space for all of it. Several of the offers have a yellow "X" on the players saying the offer was "cancelled due to payroll change". I have never seen that before and not sure what it means, is it an offer that was submitted and will count toward getting the type D compensation next year?

Kyle,

He won't currently qualify for Type D compensation. Assuming you still want to sign him, can you re-submit the offer?

What are the yellow “X” meaning to represent? They have appeared again on my draft picks after a cycle of not having them. I have plenty of player cap space for the 8k salaries of all players offers as well as plenty of cap space for the signing bonuses in my prospects pool. If The offers are not going to be valid for type D compensation I need to know why this are being canceled. There was an update that ran the night before of our draft that caused a lag in sim times of games. I don’t know if this had anything to do with it. What am I missing here?

After further investigation, the issue is that your player payroll for next season is too high. In order to sign your draft picks, you'll need to transfer money to player payroll or trade a player to reduce your payroll for next season.

Ahh ok, I had not noticed that. I didnt think that this would have been effected by that since these are one year deals and all the money is counted against the current season. So there is a flag if any budget is out of wack whether or not it is going to effect it?

The assumption is that these players will stick around for next season, so that does factor in to the logic. This is a confusing scenario though, as it took me a while to figure out the problem. I'll make a note to improve the messaging in this case to make clear why it's happening.
