Who Would you Draft? Topic

Would you choose the SP or the RF with the second pick in the draft? I play in Chicago at Wrigley.

SP Stats (LHP) 73E 94C 95L 98R 91 100 92(pitch 1) 77(pitch 2) 28 46 6
RF Stats (L) 85C 100P 68L 100R 73 88 (44 speed)

Are they both the same level (college vs high school)? And do you have a good amount of money on that level's scouting?

They are both college and I have that maxed out.

I take the Ace every time!

I know they're just projections, but that SP looks legitimately elite level.

Pitcher

Both players are extremely good. Great draft class. Pitcher amazing though.

They will both be hall of famers

Starting pitchers are harder to accumulate, take the pitcher

Easily the starting pitcher.

Think about it like this. 200+ innings vs potentially half or less then half of that. Take the innings when all else is equal.

Pending a huge difference in their makeup, I'd also take the pitcher. If it was 40 makeup vs 90 makeup for the hitter I'd probably lean that way though.

FWIW, I had a similar choice to make some years back and asked an elite owner (hatt) his advice. He said without hesitation: take the everyday player over the every fifth game starter every time.

*every 4th day starter

Also in baseball the pitcher is 1 vs 9 as opposed to the lineup which is 9 vs 1 so you always take the pitcher because he is 9x as important than any of the individual players

Depends on durability and health of each player.

If the pitcher has a 29+ durability, he is a Cy Young candidate every year.
If the RF has a durability of 90+, he is an MVP candidate every year.

If the pitcher has a durability of 23 or lower, you will need to push him hard to get 200 innings out of him.
If the RF has a durability in the 70s, you will need to watch his rest carefully.

Obviously, if one of the players has very low health, you may need to choose one over the other. There is nothing more frustrating than a player that gets injured every other season. Especially if they get injured during development.

Thank you, all. I went with the pitcher.

Send both links once the draft ends.
