FUTURE SHOCK Topic

leave your flat earth cave clans and climate change denier society groups and read up on the future where science is king.
there are new inventions advances every day and the more we know the more we can appreciate the successes that we already take for granted.
some new theories and advances are instantly indispensable and some are speculative in their future success.....some are scary and some are controversial.....tell us what we need to know.......pocket calculators and beanie caps with propellers are allowed.

in china the government permitted an experiment in which rhesus monkees' brains were given a human gene that is essential to evolutionary development of human intelligence...these monkees developed far superior short term memory and intelligence compared to monkees whose brains were not altered.
recently china may have killed a scientist who without permission did a chimera experiment involving mice.
chimera is the term for the mixing of species.
not surprisingly a lot of people are worried about a planet of the chimps.

just in - just yesterday the first photograph of a black hole has been released.
einstein was right.
einstein was probably one of them.

there have been articles about the weakening of the earth's magnetic field...that it is decaying at an alarming rate that could allow eventually for minor solar storms to wreak havoc on the electric grid and raise the risk of cancer.
to be followed.

have a blessed day.

evidently the magnetic field flips every 100,000 years........the scientific community does not know whether a calamity is coming or not.
if it is a calamity the cosmic rays prevented by the strong magnetic fields would be swarming earth causing destruction of oceans and atmosphere..if that happens losses would be in trillions of dollars or worse.

breaking wind news
despite the recent assertions by a political leader wind turbines do not cause cancer and kill less birds then cellphone towers.

Intermittent power sources are a false hope given our current energy storage capabilities. The only reason wind and solar power feel useful to people who own them is because the power they produce is such an insignificant portion of the power on the total grid that the changes to available power when they're at max capacity or 0% capacity is functionally meaningless.

i echo gomiami's sentiments expressed in another thread about the iconic cathedral of notre dame.
a great loss for the world for the architecture and art and relics.
one would hope that it has been meticulously studied and recorded and photographed in order to reconstruct it as close as it is humanly possible.
i cannot think of anything of such stature that was built so many hundreds of years ago outside that destroyed by isis that has been lost in recent years.
im hoping that modern science and technology will be able to be applied to duplicate it as close as possible.
hopefully paintings..statues and relics were saved.

the idea of dropping water from the air was rejected because it is believed that it would cause collapse of the structure.

it is a horrible loss to say the least but it will inform about the current state of science and architecture and technology to be able to clone an iconic structure.
