Ball Park Questions(s) Topic

The final rating for Safeco .88 and Riverfront .90 rank really close as pitchers parks.

Riverfront has +2 on 2B and +1 on HR with a -2 on 1B, yet Safeco has -2 on 1B, -2 on 2B and HR and -1 on 3B. It appears to on those numbers Riverfront is almost a hitters park while Safeco an extreme pitchers park. Yet the whole Park fator has them close as strong pitchers parks.

What am I missing?

Thanks for answering.

Now Rogers Center is -2 on 1B, +1 on HR, just like Riverfront. But is much more hitter friendly at 1.03 to Riverfront at .90.

So either WIS doesn't know what they are doing. (Highly unlikely.) Or I'm missing something. (Exremely likely.)

I've heard that the park ratings are based on real life stats/runs scored (which could explain why NL parks are lower than AL parks with similar ratings, cuz no DH), while the individual +/- stat ratings are what WIS uses in their algorithm. My understanding is that you can ignore the ballpark rating in the right-hand column.

The other part is the numbers for 1B, 2B, 3B, and HR are rounded.

1B may say -1 but it could actually be anywhere from -.5 to -1.49 In summation all -1's are not created equal.
