Whats the best use of this SP or Super Sub? Topic

Can I use this guy as a super sub? A guy that will be the first out of the BP and eat up a lot of IP.

If so what would be the best settings? He is not a true RP but the DUR is not bad at 33.

I would love to be able to get 2IP out of him four out of six games.

Thanks for your help.

I think you start him. You should get 180+ innings out of him as a starter. I have had relievers that put up 120-150 innings but I think I want that guy starting. He certainly shouldn't be in the minors.

SP; set pitch counts to 80/100 (unusually wide on purpose). He'll lose some effectiveness in those last 20 pitches due to in-game fatigue-- but he's so good that he may be better at modestly reduced effectiveness than anyone in your bullpen. Should pitch about 190 innings at that pitch count.

I am just waiting for the 20 game mark to hold that extra year of control.

I have a similar guy for dur/sta and got 215 & 199 innings out of him the past two seasons. Granted, I tried to start him every 4 days so you have to be on top of it. But those guys can still provide a ton of value.

That's a good point; you can also put this guy at 60/75, start him every 4 games, and get about 200 IP out of him. But you'll have to be super attentive.

He should start 100% for sure. Id pitch him 55-65 pitches with a pull of 1 every 4th game he would get 160-190 innings. But I always run a 4 man rotation due to in game fatigue.

Wasn't his year of control saved last season when you brought him up half way through the year?

Do you count six starts after the late season roster expansion as "half way through the year"?

If you are new to the rules the "Expand Big League Rosters" happens after a 137 of the 162 games are played.

At that point you add up to 40 guys to the ML roster.

Not true, the service time he accrued last season counts. So there's no need to keep him down 20 games, it won't effect anything. You would have to keep him down 26 days, plus all of the days he accrued last season (which looks like 79 on his profile page). To keep that extra year, you would need to keep him down 105ish days this season. If you arent doing that, bring him up now.

He's right. There's absolutely no point in keeping that guy in AAA seeing how he accrued service time last season...

Roster expansion does NOT bypass service time.

This was quite an unnecessarily snarky response.

Its all in the tone you read it. The more you look the more you find. My dry sarcasm never does well in text.
