I signed a player that is invite only it won't let me resign Hillman is there a way I can sign him

You have to release him and then go sign him right away. He goes into the free-agent pool immediately. I do this with a few players I want to keep in the minors.

Just sign him for the minors to begin with and you won't have to do this.
