piman has 9 i think on his kansas team, not sure which world, but im not sure if he only has 9 non-freshman.

i'm not sure what the record is for most EEs. i had 5 pretty early on, actually it was within my first 10 seasons of d1 in my life or so, so i almost quit over it. i cant remember if someone else had just had 5 or had 5 right after but for years, i think the most forum memory was aware of was those couple 5s. but i know for sure someone had at least 6 years later, possibly lostmyth. probably. man that guy could recruit, definitely the best all time d1 recruiter in my book.

One season at Clemson I had 5 EES leave, another one I had 4EES... Then I left. I recruited a bit differently in Stanford but had more trouble getting depth. But it's really a matter of luck sometimes. It could also be a difference between a final four and a second round exit. Hopefully, my next stop will be the place where I can build a winner.

Those pesky first world problems....

Since 2 of your big board players are graduating, you can’t lose more than 4 EEs. So the glass is at least half full, right?

i was wondering if they'd made a change there, i couldn't remember. so its a 6 limit, of graduating + EEs, not counting walkons right?

Right. The walkon means he could conceivably have 7 open spots to fill next year, but that’s as bad as his luck can get.

cool, thanks!

I actually torpedo practice development at an unprecedented rate. Anyone who isn't a starter gets no development until they are off the big board, and starters only get practice minutes in select ratings I deem "ultra-important." Works to some degree, others would argue I dont get enough out of players while they stick around.

There are ways to do it that aren’t so extreme as “no development”, but to each her own.

Case by case basis for me. UConn, for example, has two jrs who started the year projected in the first round, and likely going pro. Last year as sophs, they were likely staying, one at ~40, and the other at ~65 most the year. I limited growth in the scoring attributes, because doing that had a lot of impact - keeping them off the fence as sophomores was pretty important. This year, I lifted the restrictions, because 1), they weren’t going to move off the fence even if I could move them out of the first round (unlikely in both cases), and 2) getting their scoring as high as possible this year will impact my postseason prospects.

i get that its unlikely to get them out of the first round, but isn't it basically impossible to get a junior to go under 'on the fence'? even guys at 100 are on the fence for me, and it kinda seems like even unlisted guys in that 100-110ish range are probably still 'on the fence' as juniors. might have misunderstood what you were saying there, i thought you were saying its unlikely to both get them out of the first round as well as unlikely to get them off the fence.

Both cases meaning both players, as in neither player is likely to be moved out of the first round.

Juniors are all at least “on the fence”, as you say. So it would be moving the player down from “likely going” to “on the fence”. So the strategic calculus is different as sophomores, when keeping them out of the first round (well, out of the top 27-28 spots) has them “likely staying”. Had I completely stymied Brown, who started this season at 25 on the big board, he may have possibly moved down out of the first round on the big board. But he wasn’t going to go down far enough to give me good odds at returning for a senior year. So I made the choice to try to develop his scoring so that he’s a real offensive weapon by tournament time. He could end up a lottery pick, because his LP is still green, and could reach 90+.
