I'm sure this has been discussed before, but the arb system in this game needs a major overhaul. I have a guy who made $2.5M last season who is asking for $10.3M in arb. The fact that you get one shot - a guess - to find the right dollar amount so you don't end up paying the full $10.3M is ridiculous. There should at least be room for a little bit of back and forth on numbers.

I could see possibly adjusting the formula they use to how they generate the number but the system mimics the MLB system. Each party brings a number, case is made, arbitor makes a choice.

But in MLB, teams have an opportunity to negotiate that number before it goes to arbitration. Only if they can't agree does a moderator come in and decide.

They can continue to discuss a long term deal (or one year deal) up until the arbitration dead line. We get to do that, we dont have as much room to come off the number the players are demanding like you might be able to in real world negotiations.
