Class Size Question Topic

I'm not 100% clear on this from what I've read, but if I have a freshman that I'm currently redshirting, will I be able to sign 6 incoming freshmen for the next season?

Why do you want a large class size "extra clicks per season" When it is stated in data that you win more prizes and games with a 3-3-3-3 and perhaps maybe a juco structure for every 2 seasons instead of one?

I wouldn't want a big class like that. Recruiting would be brutal. But I believe that your redshirt would be included in that freshman class which can only be 6.

Your redshirt is considered a freshman the following season, meaning you can only sign 5 freshman the following year.

Also, just as a little bonus knowledge drop: Don't listen to Wardo. About anything. Especially this game.

I actually have him blocked. But sometimes I like to see what new phrases he invents. This week, apparently, is "extra clicks per season," which I think might pertain to prestige bumps, but I don't know for sure.

"extra clicks per season"

No idea what that means.

I prefer the 3-3-3-3 model or something similar, but my only National Championship came with a 6-6 class running the press. It can definitely move the odds to your favor.

My favorite is 4-4-4-0. And it's not even close. When it's like that, 8 upperclassmen and 4 sophomores is deadly.

Next season at 4-4-0-4 you still have 8 upperclassmen.
Next season at 4-0-4-4, your Sophs are good, come NT. So that gives you 3 seasons of competing at a high level.

The 0-4-4-4 season is your worst. But it gives you a range finder of how good your future looks. If you can win a NT game or two in the NT, you likely have 3 competitive seasons ahead of you. Similar to the 3 you just recently had.

Having read all of the info above, which is correct by rule, my Ferrum Team in Crum has 7 actual Freshman. I signed five, and I have two walk-on that are Freshman and at least appearance wise, both have the offer scholarship tab on manage roster. I would never offer either, and my brain tells me if I would offer one of them, the tab would disappear on the other.

Sim teams have super classes of up to nine in a class. Anybody seen a Sim with more then nine?

No, you can only sign 5.

I've been told size doesn't matter.

I know ineligibles aren't counted in that total , because the first season they are eligible it's treated like they are sophomores, despite like playing 4 years.

i love this scheme principally because it means you don't have to do anything every 4th season, although the full rollover is not a thing anymore so less awesome than it used to be. but overall still a fan :)

i suggest to folks a 'slanted' class structure. just kinda like everything else - you don't want to be well rounded, well at least not in the 'base level' of considering things (once you take a layer of indirection or two then you may want to be well rounded, so like, you don't want well rounded offensive ratings across the team, and when you take one layer of abstraction and go to player abilities offensively, you still don't want to be well rounded - but when you go to team offense, two layers, then yes, you want to be well rounded relative to the other 2 layer of abstraction items like team defense, team rebounding, team 'guard skills' or what have you). you also don't want to be extremely... not well rounded, when it comes to most things in this game.

i generally recommend folks have 8 upperclassmen at some point in their rotation, so you get a great NT shot at some point. it can be 4-4 or 5-3 or 3-5. then on your down years, you are still competitive, but not getting slaughtered. i like the 5-3-2-2 type structure or similar. one point i'll add is, most scheme make almost 0 use of their 11th and 12th man (at least in the NT), so its sort of wasteful to have more than 10 non-freshman. so im not really a proponent of having classes smaller than 2 for just about anyone, outside of the perk of being able to skip a season with 0 players (but most folks play this game to play the game - i probably am somewhat unique in that i define success in large part as having to play as little of this game as possible).

Could you sign 6 plus take a walk-on in the same season (no redshirt freshman from prior season)?

you can always take walkons. the game will usually sign terrible players in their place for all walkons beyond 3, which is an incredibly frustrating 'enhancement' from 3.0.

the only restriction as far as i know is at the time of signing a recruit - as in, it won't let you. i could be wrong about that though. maybe you wouldn't be able to sign a freshman walkon or redshirt a soph if you already had 6 scholarship freshman, but i kinda think you can do all those things.
