We are about to start the 6th season of the 7 Year Itch Progressive League. This innovative league (originated by Boddicker) progresses 7 seasons at a time so season 5 will be 1938-1944. Each league season you get to select which of the 7 seasons of your keepers and draft picks you will use for each player. There is rapid turnover and typically teams are drafting 10-15 players, sometimes as many as 18 so rapid improvements (or declines) are common. The post immediately following explains the league rules.

Original rules as set by Boddicker. whose idea was the origin of this league.

We will have an initial draft of players from 1903-1909....you take a player and you own him for his entire career.You can keep any and all of your roster to play Season 2, if they are still active, which will be seasons 1910-1916. We will draft all the new players after Season 1.....so you keep who you want, and fill out your roster with players active from 1910-1916 during a pre-season 2 draft....and so on and so on. So as an example, say you draft TY COBB....maybe you use his 1907 season for SEASON 1....you keep him for SEASON 2 and use his 1911 season....you keep him for SEASON 3 and use his 1917 campaign...SEASON 4 comes around and you use his 1924 year....his last season is 1928 so he retires for SEASON 5, opening a roster spot on your squad.Unlimited keepers and cuts, manage your team as you see fit.......We will have these leagues to play, one at a time:

SEASON 2- 1910-1916
SEASON 3- 1917-1923
SEASON 4- 1924-1930
SEASON 5- 1931-1937
SEASON 6- 1938-1944
SEASON 7- 1945-1951
SEASON 8- 1952-1958
SEASON 9- 1959-1965
SEASON 10- 1966-1972
SEASON 11-1973-1979
SEASON 12- 1980-1986
SEASON 13- 1987-1993
SEASON 14- 1994-2000
SEASON 15- 2001-2007
SEASON 16- 2008- 2014
SEASON 17- 2015-2021

OTHER RULES- 16 TEAMS/OWNERS, NO WW, YES AAA- average to help with fatigue, especially first couple seasons, 120 CAP, TRADES ARE OK. NO CLONES.NO DH UNTIL SEASON 11..... ONCE WE HAVE 16 OWNERS, WE WILL HAVE A RANDOM DRAFT FOR ACTIVE BALLPARKS. YOUR BALLPARK MUST BE ACTIVE DURING THE TIME FRAME PLAYED(to have 16 different unique stadiums, inaugural stadium draft will encompass seasons 1 and 2 ballparks available)....FUTURE CHANGES OF BALLPARKS WILL BE DURING PLAYER DRAFT-FIRST COME-FIRST SERVED(you would draft a ballpark instead of a player). INITIAL DRAFT IS SERPENTINE (1-16; 16-1), ALL OTHER DRAFTS ARE NORMAL, WORST TO FIRST BY RECORD( 50 WIN MINIMUM BY GAME 150 TO AVOID A TOTAL TANK JOB)....some interesting strategies will be in play every off-season draft, you can bet on that...and with only 16 clubs, as RL baseball expands, our team salaries will increase. Also, let's shoot for realistic team names, please( city and mascot)......

Additional rules covering available player rules, draft protocols etc. are available in the league private forum, as will be the available player list for 1938-1944 in about 2 weeks. The 1931-1937 season does not end until January 20. Interested owners will be given temporary access to the league private forum.

The team available is the Cleveland Indians. The prior owner is leaving the WIS site for health reasons. A PRELIMINARY Keeper list for 1938-1944 is posted immediately below,

As of now the Indians have a record of 61-60 and would be drafting 9th in the 16 team league (that position could change either up or down of course). The team should certainly get at least 1 of the players listed above (probably not Williams or Musial unfortunately).

We have just had a 2nd team become available. The team is the Cincinnati Reds, who finished the 1931-1937 season with a record of 74-89, 3rd in the NL West division.

The Reds will draft 6th in the 16 team league for 1938-1944 draft, which is ready to start as soon as we have a new owner.

Posted immediately below is a preliminary keeper list for the Reds, subject to change up until the draft starts OFF THE CLOCK. If we have not acquired a new owner by the end of the day on Friday October 24, it is my intention to start the draft OFF THE CLOCK on Saturday October 25 and in that case I will draft for the Reds until a new owner is found.

There are 204 draft picks needed for the 1938-1944 draft. There are 730 players on the available player list, including 572 WIS rookies in the 1938-1944 season, so there will be plenty of available talent to fill all team rosters. The Reds should be able to get at least one of the players listed above.

As noted above, the draft can start OFF THE CLOCK as soon as we get a replacement owner for the Reds but no later than Saturday October 25.

Due to the nature of the league, there is rapid turnover every season so rebuilding a team is unusually easy. Teams will be drafting 9-17 players in the 1938-1944 draft, with the average being 13.
