who would you rather draft? Topic

I realize that the SS is much higher rated, but catcher overall is usually lower overall.... So I'm wondering which one you would rather take?

How old is each one and what's your scouting budget?

Anyone disagrees, please chime in.

Nice example of why the Overall rating is a number that has no context, unless you add some on your own.

The SS is Gold Glove worthy on projections but I usually assume fielding projections overshoot. In which case he might end up more of a 3B/2B. A 100 Durability rating - usually again an overshot - means much of his Overall lies in Durability, especially if his Health is only 64. The bat is good, given his splits can I guess he hits Left? Which is useful. Eye is sub par.

An 83 Overall C is rare. Fielding ratings look solid enough, and fairly realistic in my experience. 83 Durability is high for a C, he can play more than most. Bat is outstanding for any position, especially a C. Power is adequate but with his other ratings they'll actually play his power up, even if the Eye, VsR and Contact are probably exaggerated.

I'm always on the lookout for a franchise C; that's my pick.

college scouting and HS scouting both at 15. the SS is 18 and the C is 22. I have been looking at the C and thinking that he is a franchise catcher and agree that is rare. No glaring holes with the C but the SS does have a glaring weakness with vLH

At 22 the C doesn't have too many years to achieve his projected ratings, so hopefully his current ratings are not far off from his projected. I like the C with the strong bat.

15 mil scouting makes the projections more sketchy than I would hope. Not much you can do, though, because every player you are seeing has the same amount of risk baked into it. It does explain why the C looks so great, you almost never see the game spit Cs like that out.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Take the C. I barely trust HS scouting at 20 million. You could be in for a rude awakening if you draft the SS. As a 22 year old with College scouting and a great bat, the C seems like a slam dunk.
