Importance of effectiveness Topic

Just how important is effectiveness? I’ve seen pitchers with elite control, velocity,GB, and pitches but effectiveness max out in the 30s and 40s.. is this too inconsistent?

same with batters. Got fast blazing speed ball players in the 90s along with contact and eye, but effectiveness in the 30s...

Effect of low effectiveness is an ineffectual player hahaha. But seriously, low effectiveness tanks the value of players. I never go below 50 for either, and try to avoid sub-60s.

Effectiveness splits are the first thing I look at in evaluating a player. I believe they are the most important ratings.

I hate those guys. Stud all over them and bam 18-22 effectiveness. As far as how far down will you go, you'll be surprised how sub 60's can work well. I never have a limit because you just never know. I have a RP now 49-64 that during a 3 year stretch average 120 innings at 3 ERA. He had a couple 90+ pitches.

Hitters with low splits (40s, maybe even high 30s) can be reasonably potent in an Adam Dunn (in his best seasons) kind of way if their power and eye are both 90+; .230/.330/.500 or so.

I've never seen a pitcher with either split below 50 who was usable in the long run... even a guy with 45 splits and 90+ control/P1/P2 is going to be a mopup at best, and they don't make too many pitchers like that.
