Gridiron or Hardball Dynasty Topic

Is anyone playing Gridiron or Hardball Dynasty? I'm thinking about trying one of them. I've played Gridiron before, but it's been YEARS!!!!!!!! I've never played Hardball. If I decide to do one of them, I will definitely need some pointers for Hardball and a refresher for Gridiron

I've never tried gridiron but hardball was really good (although it's been many years). It's just expensive. I think it's like $20 per season, and I don't think you can earn any credits for successful seasons. Also, you have to wait for a full league before it will roll over to the next season, which can take weeks if several players leave. I'd imagine that's worse now.

Actually I just checked and you earn credits if you make the playoffs. I guess I never did. Lol.

HD has an incredible community. Everyone is super nice. In my experience, Hardball is the exact opposite. Fun game though.

The wait time really depends on who is in charge. If the person recruiting owners for the next season has their ducks in order, the worlds can roll in 24 hours or less. If not, you are right that it can take several weeks. However, most of my worlds only take a couple of days.

And to Sportsbulls' point about the community aspect, that also varies from world to world....I happened to be in the same world as he was at the time and agree that he didn't get the best reception, but I have had a very different experience in literally every single one. And even that world has gotten better. Overall, I highly recommend giving it a try.

HBD, but it's all in the world you join

It's a game all new players want to experience all the bells and whistles from the jump, but for a long term enjoyable experience new players should be slow, cautious, and patient. HBD coined the term "noob-rape" for a reason.

Obviously, if I decide to try it, I need to be in a world where I can get some assistance - lol...

A HBD season lasts 3 months with like 800 simmed games, if you include the minors...

...Which you should, because it's very much a player development game.

You really do get your money's worth.

I love HBD. Highly recommend it. It can be a bit overwhelming at first. If you ever played OOTP you will be able to pick it up quickly.

There are douchebags out there but getting into the right world is important. If you do join a HBD world dont join a public world, find a private world to join.

I play both. HBD is the best game on this website (IMHO) but it is complex and time consuming...and expensive. The biggest drawback to HBD is that there are too many leagues and most have a very hard time filling. If you do manage to get into one of the high quality private worlds, your learning curve will be steep because of the quality of the competition and it will be a long time before you see success, which means a lot of money spent getting your butt kicked.

Actually HBD is growing right now due to COVID and the free offers. Try HBD and use the HBD classifieds forum to join a private world. SM with questions.

Also I don't think it's expensive. $25 per season / three months. That's cheaper than GD. Plus you get credits almost every season, so it's more like $20 per three months or $80 a year.
