If I am waiting for a trade to go through (that has been accepted), can I designate the player to be traded (without waivers?) to clear a roster spot?

Just for clarification purposes.

I just made a trade and it is waiting approval.
It included two pitchers and I need to move a guy up for bullpen depth in the mean time.
Can I designate without waivers the traded players to make room the the roster?

Will it hurt their ratings if i do it?

You can do it, it won't hurt their ratings, but be aware if that the trade fails for some reason you can't yank them back to the ML roster.

Just be aware - if the timing of their next reg season cycle comes while that player is awaiting assignment, their ratings could take a massive hit. Just had that happen in one of my leagues. It’s unlikely that the timing would line up - but not impossible.
